‘Making the Cut’ CD Release Concert
July 22nd 2017
4:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Songs make history come alive. In the hundred years since they were constructed, the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Ballard locks have made changes for the people of King County, both positive and negative. The effects were widespread, changing the landscape and lakes. Populations and industry shifted. There are many vivid images and dramatic events and stories to tell.
Thanks in part to a grant from 4 Culture, Maritime Folknet held a Songwriting Contest in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the Ballard Locks. The 15 winning entries are being professionally recorded and released as a CD.
Join us on July 22nd for a CD release concert featuring a selection of the ‘Making the Cut‘ contest winners and share in the celebration of Maritime History.
