Greet the Season

November 28

Lake Union Park

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Maritime Folknet will offer eight hours of free live music aboard the Virginia V.  There will also be free holiday crafts for children.  This is part of a large event with activities from all the organizations at Lake Union Park.

Maritime Folknet is able to bring you this free music thanks to a grant from King County 4Culture.  The music schedule includes favorite maritime performers as well as youth and adult choirs.

In addition to holiday music, we will be offering free activities like ornament making, card making, and coloring aboard the Virginia V.  Nearby, MOHAI (The Museum of History and Industry) will have holiday crafts, and The Center for Wooden Boats will have cookie decorating.  There will be free snacks like cookies, hot cider and cocoa.  Historic vessels like the 1889 tugboat Arthur Foss, 1922 steamship Virginia V, 1904 Lightship #83, and the 1909 yacht Lotus will be open for boarding.  The event will lead up to the arrival of the Argosy Christmas Ships in the early evening, about 7 pm.

The event is sponsored by The At Lake Union Park Working Group (including The Center for Wooden Boats, The Steamer Virginia V Foundation, Northwest Seaport, Maritime Folknet, and MOHAI).
